Harpies

History: Harpies are creatures that are half woman half bird. Before Zeus and the Roman/Greek mythology, they were beautiful women who worshiped "The Goddess" who was a silver phoenix that could turn into a beautiful woman, but had leaders or 'goddesses' to guide them. When a leader would die another was chosen. Many times two leaders were chosen, a war broke out between two leaders because there wasn't enough food in the realm to sustain the great population of Harpies. The Harpies were divided into two groups. One group left the realm to find more food, but they were cursed as soon as they set foot out of the realm. The curse was that in order for them to survive they would need to drink blood. They were soon called Blood Harpies. The main goddess all the Harpies worshiped was angry about the war and banished every Harpy to Earth. The group that didn't leave first vowed to only drink the blood of animals to appease the main goddess. The Blood Harpies took blood from humans because it tasted better and was more powerful/potent.


Appearance: Before the Harpies were banished they were pale and had shiny silver wings. The wings were attached to the bottom of their arms. There hands had long grey talons, their legs and feet looked like birds legs and feet. Feathers covered their legs from ankle to thigh, their arms also had feathers on them. They all had beautiful faces and hair and were young looking. After they were banished the Blood Harpies became ugly, wrinkly, and appeared old and their wings and feathers turned a blood red color. The Harpies that took blood from animals were still young looking but their feathers and wings turned purple or blue.


The Realm They Lived In: They lived in a different realm, one with many moons, small mountains, lush green grass, and vast lakes and rivers, it also never snowed there. The air had a blueish hue to it and had more oxygen then Earth does.
